Just wanted to keep you updated. I created a new tool to browse AMB archives and view files as images while you can fiddle with the parameters and immediately see the changes. It makes it much easier and faster to find the correct dimensions and palette for an image. If you're interested to get your hands on it (Win32 binaries only), drop me a note and I'll email it to you.
The DOS version of Amberstar is currently being worked on. AMBlib will be expanded to support archives with the "ICS/ARTS" signature. As there are much better decompilers available for DOS programs, I'm going to try to find out more about the engine.
At the same time, I'm trying to understand the disassembled SA modules. Would be nice to create a player without the need for 68k emulation.
I'm also putting together updated and reorganized documentation on the file formats. Stay tuned and revisit this place soon!

Well, it has been some time. Almost 8 years have passed since the last time I wrote a line of code for this project. As I didn't hear of any other effort to port Amberstar and Ambermoon in the past years, except for some reimplementations of the quests using commercial game engines, I made the decision to continue my work on the Amberworld project!

But I need help :
- someone who knows 680x0 assembler and the Amiga hardware registers etc. I'm almost 10 years out of Amiga programming.
- everyone who wants to contribute with theories and facts about Ambermoon or Amberstar.

Now that my account is recovered, you can contact me via Sourceforge again. I'm looking forward to hear from you.
(Ihr könnt natürlich gerne auch Deutsch schreiben.)

The Ambermoon 2D Map Viewer will soon be available for download! Please click the thumbnail to the left to get a full-sized screenshot of its current state. Development started about one week ago and it got pretty far as you may see ;) Just wanted to prove everybody that nobody's gonna stop this project!

AMgfx 0.4 was released today. Iceblizz created a working color palette for the portraits and items, and I added it to AMgfx as number 49 (and default). There is also a full world map of Ambermoon and several Albion maps and other graphics available for you to download! We now have a working map extractor and all 2D maps have been converted. Once again I want to send all my thanks to Agatho, Flo and Iceblizz. Without them, this project would have died long ago...

There's a lot of action in the Amberworld. Thanks to Flo from the Albion2 project for the support and Iceblizz for his infos. We seem to be getting somewhere. Most file formats have been deciphered and several tools are available or under construction. I still can't guess how far we are from the first Ambermoon port, but we're getting closer with all the helping hands. Finally I can now focus on programming rather than hex-editing ;)

AMtool is now called AMBtool and it got a companion library to make AMB file handling easier for developers. You can download the sources of V0.5 now. There's no need for a binary release, because V0.4 is stable and does the same job. The new version was only released as an example for AMBlib and wasn't tested as much as the previous versions.

Just some little changes to the site. I'm currently trying to clean up the Amberfiles section a bit. New layout and stuff. Go and have a look!

Still alive, still working. I have several other tasks to handle at the moment, but Ambermoon disassembly has high priority.
Some of you may be interested to see what the IDA disassembler looks like in action. Well, have a look at this to see a screenshot. If you've ever seen a 16bit MS-DOS program in IDA, you'll notice that Motorola was lightyears ahead! Too bad their (and IBM's) new CPUs are so expensive...
